When my heart at last rests cool
on the small o fyour words
I know that you are my friend

When you take me in a familiar dream
and make me walk on the Champs Elysees
I know you are my best friend

When you embrace me all
in the silvery emerald of your eyes
and tell me the blue words all over again
I know you are the only friend I can trust

And when you get up from your iron wrought table
at the Paris roadside cafe and invite me for a dance
in the swirl of your French charm.
I know that you are my Romain

And when you kiss my cheek damp,
perfect music, perfect eyes, your face turned to me
and sing the accordeon song carefree

Yes, I do know that you are Paris:
my true healer
my conditional love.
